About Rebecca
Rebecca Flaherty is a passionate music educator and accomplished operatic soprano who has made her mark on Savannah’s musical community. A dynamic performer, Rebecca has graced the stage with the Savannah Philharmonic, Savannah Music Festival, Charleston Chamber Opera, Beaufort Symphony, Hilton Head Symphony, Savannah VOICE Festival, and the Savannah Wind Ensemble. Her love for opera inspired her to bring Sherrill Milnes and VOICExperience to Savannah, paving the way for the creation of The Savannah VOICE Festival.

Rebecca has over 20 years of experience teaching private voice lessons. She currently teaches music at Marshpoint Elementary School, and previously taught at Andrea B. Williams Elementary School. She has also served as a choral conductor and guest clinician for choirs of all ages, including The Savannah Children’s Choir, Lancaster Youth Chorale, Calvary Children’s Choir, the Unitarian Universalist Choir, and GMEA District One Honor Chorus. A dedicated educator, Rebecca is also a regular guest teacher at the Stetson University Young Singers summer camp, where she inspires young choristers.
Rebecca was named the ATC’s People’s Choice Award Winner in 2015. During the 2024–2025 season, she will teach voice technique for the Savannah Philharmonic Chorus and direct the GMEA District One Elementary Honor Chorus.
Rebecca and her husband, tenor Dan Flaherty, are thrilled to be new members of the Festival Singers of Florida and look forward to traveling to Japan in 2025 to explore Taiko drumming and collaborate with international musicians.
Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Oberlin Conservatory and a Master of Music in Voice Performance from Georgia Southern University. She and Dan are proud parents to Gwendolyn, Oliver, and Patty Grace—three wonderful singers and extraordinary human beings. The family are active members of The Unitarian Universalist Church of Savannah.
